The parishioners who help with these ministries bring peace, comfort, and the presence of Christ in the Eucharist to those who are homebound or suffering. For more information about any of these ministries, please contact the Parish Office at istcathe@dor.org or 257-2493.
Please note that since many of these ministries involve contact with people who are at highest risk for COVID-19 illness, they might not be currently taking place. To find out the latest information, please contact the Parish Office.
Sick and Homebound Ministry
Volunteers bring the Eucharist and visit with parishioners who are ill, homebound, or living in a nursing facility on a rotating basis.
Brookdale Senior Residence
Each Sunday, a volunteer is sent forth from our 9 a.m. Mass with the Eucharist to conduct a Communion Service for the residents at Brookdale (currently on hold due to the pandemic).
Martha's Ministry
Martha's Ministry provides a helping hand during challenging times (such as illness, death in the family, recovery from surgery, or birth of a child). Some of the kinds of help our volunteers provide include cooking meals, grocery shopping, and light chores.
Funeral Receptions
Volunteers coordinate, set up, and clean up for receptions in the Parish Center after funerals as a support to grieving families.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Our dedicated knitters create shawls for the sick or bereaved, or anyone who needs comfort and extra prayers from the parish community. A group meets to knit together every other Tuesday, and knitters are also welcome to knit on their own.
Poinsettia Project
Each Christmas, we try to visit and deliver a poinsettia to every family that has lost a loved one during the year, as well as to parishioners who are homebound or in nursing homes. Volunteers of all ages make the deliveries. It's a favorite activity of families to do together.
