Pastoral Care Associate
St. Catherine of Siena Parish is seeking a full-time Pastoral Care Associate. The vision of St. Catherine's is to be a vibrant Catholic community where all are welcomed, challenged, and supported on their life journeys. Our Mission Statement strives to inspire, engage, and nurture the community through worship, witness, and service. With that in mind, the Pastoral Care Associate must develop an environment of service and not codependence. This is primarily a mentoring position, drawing out the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the community. S/he will do so by coordinating, training, and teaching the community concerning pastoral care.
Essential Responsibilities- Coordinate visitations to nursing homes, hospitals, homebound, and hospice. Includes training of extraordinary ministers of Communion.
- Funeral ministry to include preparation of funeral, participation in funeral liturgies; creating and directing grief ministry (annual luncheon for widows/widowers and survivor followup: calls, emails, or letters on the anniversary of death).
- Liturgical presence.
- Coordinating an annual parish retreat program for the spiritual welfare of the community.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications- Empathetic, pastoral heart.
- Theological degree helpful but not necessary.
- Practicing Roman Catholic.
- Some nights and weekends.
