St. Catherine of Siena Parish

302 St. Catherine Circle, Ithaca, New York
We are a vibrant Catholic community where all are welcomed, challenged, and supported on their life journeys.
St. Catherine's prides itself on being a sharing, caring community. Here are a few tips (taken from both the CDC and NYS Department of Health) to prevent parishioners from sharing colds and the flu (including the H1N1 virus) at Mass and other parish activities. Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer. It's important to rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds under running water to be most effective (that's about the time it takes to say the Our Father slowly). Hand sanitizers are provided at the church entrances and at most events. The flu virus is most commonly spread by droplets, and doesn't live on surfaces for longer than a few hours. That means sneezing etiquette is vital - it's best to sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue, but make sure that you wash or sanitize your hands after handling soiled tissues. If you have temperature, productive cough, significant sore throat, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea - Stay Home! You are considered infectious until you have been without fever for 24 hours.
